Soy Isoflavones Facts
Soy has many valuable constituents, one of them being isoflavones. The primary isoflavones in soy are genistein and daidzein, which have powerful antioxidant and phytoestrogen properties. Soy Isoflavones are similar to the hormone estrogen (but weaker) and offer potent health benefits.
How Soy Isoflavones Work
Soy Isoflavones contain phytoestrogens, which block the more potent forms of estrogen to help prevent hormonal diseases like breast cancer (by blocking a protein which promotes growth and spreading of tumor cells). They help substitute for low estrogen levels, reducing hot flashes and preserving bones. Soy isoflavones also have antioxidant and anticoagulant properties that are protective against cancer and heart disease.
