Nettle is a perennial shrub that grows 2 -4 feet high and is found throughout temperate regions worldwide. It has flowers that are yellow or pink and heart shaped leaves. It earns its common name of "stinging nettle" due to the downy fine hair on the leaves and stem which contains a fluid that stings and leaves a burn when coming in contact with skin.
